BGP - How To

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Customers who wish to use their own IP Address space with Hawaii-Pacific Teleport service have two options. Either option requires a minimum of 256 IP Addresses, or one Class C Block (/24). Please allow up to 72 hours, US Business Days Only, for the request to take effect. This is the required amount of time for all BGP routers to update their tables. We have no control over this time frame as it consists of updates to tens of thousands of routers around the world. Please plan accordingly as we will not be able to immediately activate BGP Advertising/Peering.

Option 1:
Request HPT to Advertise the Address Block(s) using the HPT Upstream Provider BGP ASN. Customers who do not have their own BGP ASN will need to select the "Advertise" option.

Step 1: Please print the BGP Authorization Form found at HPT suppport site under "Engineering Requests" section. Download the BGP application form, fill out completely, sign and fax to the number at the top of the form with you company letterhead. The IP Addresses must be registered to the company submitting the Authorization form. If the IP Addresses are registered to a third-party company (or alternate upstream provider/ISP), the Authorization form must come from that company. NOTE: Please enter 36062 as the AS Number.

Option 2:
Used by customers who have their own BGP ASN and would like to Peer with the HPT Upstream BGP ASN. You will need your BGP ASN, the IP Address of your BGP router and the IP Blocks you would like to exchange information on with the HPT ASN.

Step 1: Please print the BGP Authorization Form found at HPT suppport site under "Engineering Requests" section. Download the BGP application form, fill out completely, sign and fax to the number at the top of the form with you company letterhead. .
